I'm Professor of Social Theory and Political Economy at Lancaster University, UK. Books include Method in Social Science: A Realist Approach (Routledge, 1992); Realism in Social Science (Sage, 2000) The Moral Significance of Class (Cambridge UP, 2005). Currently working on a book on 'Why Things Matter: Social Science, Normativity and Ethical Life', and a book on 'Moral Economy'.
